X
X means the panel needs replacing.
The inspector judged the damage beyond economical repair. On a body panel, X means replace. On the windscreen area of the diagram it means the glass is cracked and has to be replaced.
That ambiguity is real and it is worth resolving before you bid, because the difference is a few hundred dollars of glass or a few thousand dollars of panel and paint.
For a car of this age, replacement means a used panel from a breaker in Japan, a reproduction part, or a long wait. Some panels for an R32 or an FD3S are effectively unobtainable new.
