EK9
Honda Civic Type R, EK9
B16B, 1.6 naturally aspirated, front-wheel drive
The first Civic Type R, hand-assembled engine and all, and now entirely legal to import. Values have followed the Integra Type R upward.
Almost every EK9 has been modified and many have been raced. The sheet's job on this car is to tell you whether the shell is straight and honest.
A straight shell is the whole car
Marks suggesting a front or rear impact matter more than a tired interior, because a bent Type R shell is not worth repairing at these values.
Engine swaps and replaced panels
The B16B is what makes it a Type R. Handwritten notes about a non-original engine, and XX marks on the bonnet or wings, are both common.
Rust at the rear arches and the boot
Nineties Hondas rot at the arches. An S mark there is genuine bodywork.
Every mark named above is defined in the codes library, with what it costs to put right at US rates.
Night Line
Be told when a EK9 matters
We write when the EK9 clears another month of the 25-year rule, when the yen moves more than 3% your way, and once when the free Decode opens. Nothing else.
